TrekAhead
Plan hut-to-hut walks in the Alps and Pyrenees, on real trails, with the data already on your phone.
What it does
- Over 23,000 huts, refuges, bivouacs and mountain guesthouses across the Alps, Pyrenees and beyond
- Routes that follow actual paths, with distance, ascent and an honest walking time
- Difficulty per day on the SAC scale, from a valley stroll to a T6 scramble
- Cable cars, gondolas and mountain trains, if you would rather not walk up
- Your own photos and notes for each hut, kept on your phone
- Hut data works with no signal; photos for your route are downloaded ahead of time
No advertising, no tracking, and no account needed to look at anything. An email address and a password are asked for only when you save or share a route, or send in a photo. Your location is used to draw your position on the map and never leaves your phone — see the privacy policy.
Where the data comes from
Hut locations and details come from OpenStreetMap. Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons, refuges.info, Open Data Hub, the Club Alpino Italiano register, and the huts' and hotels' own websites. Every photograph is credited in the app to its source and, where stated, its photographer and licence.
